New year business tonic for creative digital industries | Barnsley ...

Although the economic climate remains challenging, there are still plenty of business funding options available, say finance experts Russell Copley and Andrew Sacks.

The pair will share their experiences with the region?s creative businesses at a free event later this month hosted by Barnsley Digital Media Centre.

Russell, a finance consultant who aids multi-nationals, the public sector and small private enterprises, says there?s still plenty of opportunity to grow a business through funding and by matching business-owners with investors who have the skills to develop successful working partnerships.

Andrew Sacks, a qualified Chartered Accountant who has overseen multi million pound deals, will also speak one to one with local businesses. Andrew runs High Ash Investments, a business consultancy that advises client companies on cashflow, raising finance and restructuring.

The free funding clinic takes place on January 31 at the DMC on County Way, Barnsley, and businesses seeking finance can sign up for 30 minute appraisals from Russell and Andrew.

More growth support is on offer in February at the DMC when selling comes under the spotlight.

The centre, run by Oxford Innovation on behalf of Barnsley Council, is running a three part programme aimed at helping fledgling businesses secure sales.

Amanda Lennon, regional director for Oxford Innovation, explained: ?The first workshop is all about setting yourself up to win. Self motivation and preparation are the first steps to securing more business. The second session is all about closing the deal and the third session will be about how to dress for success.

?We surveyed companies based in the Digital Media Centre and many felt high quality sales training would help their businesses. These sessions offer a fantastic opportunity for businesses both within the centre and further afield.?

The sales programme, which costs ?99 and is open to all businesses, will be delivered by acclaimed motivational trainer Darren Smithson, sales dynamo Zak Pal who is MD at Talk Direct Telefonica, an O2 franchise and top style consultant Liz Clothier.

To book an appraisal at the DMC Funding Clinic call 01226 720700. Details of the sales courses will be released shortly.
