WASHINGTON (AP) ? Government investigators find that some senior officials in the Federal Air Marshal Service made fun of veterans, homosexuals and minorities, creating what many employees perceived to be an unpleasant work environment.
A Homeland Security Department Inspector General report to be released Thursday finds that many of the agency's employees feel that they are treated unfairly and overlooked for promotions and good assignments. But investigators say the review did not find widespread discrimination and retaliation throughout the agency.
The Federal Air Marshal Service was expanded by the thousands after 9/11 and populated by former employees from other law enforcement agencies like the Secret Service and state and local police.
